(CLEVELAND) – The Cleveland Indians have designated 1B/DH Mark Reynolds for assignment, a source confirmed Thursday morning.

Reynolds, 30, has been struggling  ever since a hot start to the 2013 season. Reynolds was hitting just .215 with 15 HRs and 48 RBIs. However, since May 6, he ranks last in MLB batting average at .179 among qualified batters.

According to sources, right-hander Preston Guilmet will take Reynolds spot on the 25-man roster as he will be called up from Triple-A Columbus Thursday afternoon.
