(Solon) - Ground was broken today for a $53 million expansion of Nestlé’s research and development operation in Solon. The new center will host 100 scientific positions and should be open for business in 18 months.

Flying in from Switzerland was Nestlé’s Global Head of Research and Development Johannes Baench, who explains that the center will concentrate on creating healthier, better tasting foods that reduce obesity. He says new recipes and the latest technologies will be tested and evaluated.

Governor John Kasich promised that Ohio will do it's best to provide Nestle with talented employees while sparing the company from burdensome regulations.

Kasich says the Nestle investment in Solon shows that CEO's around the country are recognizing that Ohio is business friendly.
