(Downtown) - Cleveland leaders were on hand for the unveiling of a new billboard at East 14th and Carnegie, calling attention to the threat of prescription drug abuse, and heroin addiction.

It's the first of 20 billboards being donated by Clear Channel Outdoor with company president Bill Platco stressing that the community needs to join together to fight the growing epidemic.

The billboards direct the public to a special drug abuse hotline for assistance, and is part of Cuyahoga County's "Let's Face It" campaign to raise awareness about heroin addiction.

On hand for the unveiling were members of Cleveland City Council, Mayor Frank Jackson and others. Jackson revealed that Cuyahoga County has experienced a 500% increase in heroin deaths over the past 6 years.

He says it's important that Greater Clevelanders and visitors to town know that there is help and treatment options available.
