(Cleveland) - There was a party atmosphere at the Progressive Field Terrace Club as hundreds of children from the Boys and Girls Clubs received free dental care.
About 20 local dentists along with their support staffers volunteered their services, performing a wide range of procedures, from teeth cleaning, installing crowns, to removing diseased teeth.
The free dental care event was sponsored by the Cleveland Indians, and TeamSmile, and organization that has been closely working professional sports teams around the country.
TeamSmile founder Dr. Bill Bush said he created the program because there are many children who have never seen a dentist in their entire lives. Often their first examination in the emergency room.
Ron Soeder of the Boys and Girls Club of Cleveland told Newsradio WTAM 1100 that the Indians made a special effort to provide a fun environment for the children, to take the fear of out dental care.
