(Cleveland) - There was a pretrial hearing for accused kidnapper and convicted sex offender Elias Acevedo this afternoon. He appeared before Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Michael Donnelly.

Judge Donnelly declined to set a trial date, but may make that determination during the next pretrial hearing in two weeks. The prosecution team said it is ready to go, but the defense contends more time is needed to prepare.

The 49-year-old Acevedo is charged with the 1995 murder of Christina Adkins, and the 1994 killing of neighbor Pamela Pemberton.

Acevedo faces 293 counts, including rape, kidnapping and aggravated murder. He has pleaded not guilty, and remains in custody on $5 million bond.
