(Cleveland) - The Federal Aviation Administration has completed its annual Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 139 inspection at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport

Hopkins was issued the FAA’s top rating at the conclusion of the certification inspection.

“We are proud to have received this prestigious rating from the FAA. We have an outstanding team of aviation experts who make safety their business” said Airport Director Ricky D. Smith.

The FAA requires all U.S. airports providing commercial airline services to comply with the FAR Part 139 regulations. The annual inspection process serves to ensure safety in air transportation and defines the standards within which an airport is required to operate on a daily basis.

The comprehensive annual inspection focuses on areas including runway and taxiway conditions; markings and lighting; complete and accurate record keeping, and training of personnel.

The airport emergency and snow removal plans are also reviewed.

“Passing this inspection could not have been possible were it not for the dedicated staff and airport partners who work together every day to provide our traveling public a safe and secure environment,” said Smith.
