(Elyria)- Natural gas service is being restored to hundreds of Lorain County residents after an outage left them in the cold.

Columbia Gas spokeswoman Amy Koncelik says 85% of the customers who lost service had heat again by midnight, more than a day after an apparent supply-line disruption hit parts of Elyria, North Ridgeville and Eaton Township.

She says it takes a while to restore service as each home and business must be entered by Columbia Gas workers.  Koncelik reminds customers to either post on their front door where they can be reached, or tell a neighbor where you are.

More than two-thousand homes and businesses were affected by the natural gas outage.
