May 4 has long been an unofficial holiday in geekdom. "May the Fourth be with you," has turned the franchise's signature line "May the Force be with you" into a playful celebration of all things from a galaxy far, far away.

But now, the California legislature has gone ahead and made it legit! On Thursday, the California Legislature declared May 4 'Star Wars Day' in celebration of Disneyland's new theme park being opened at the end of the month: Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.

Assembly Concurrent Resolution 72 (NOT Order 66 thankfully) was authored by Democratic Assemblyman Tom Daly, who represents the Anaheim district where Disneyland is located. It states that his district will benefit from Galaxy's Edge with "at least $14 million more in tax revenues per year."

The new land is also expected to create 1,400 permanent jobs (No word on whether Bothans or Sand People have applied for any positions).

Disneyland is Orange County's largest employer, generating a staggering $5.7 billion for Southern California's economy, the resolution states.

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opens later this month. Reservations for tickets sold out fast, so you might be a long, long time before you can get in and check it out for yourself.

In the meantime, we offer you the trailer for 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' to help tide you over.
