Lake Take 1

Coming up this week in Cleveland, The Indians begin a 3-game series against the Boston Red Sox tomorrow night, Train & The Goo Goo Dolls hit Blossom on Wednesday, Feast Of The Assumption starts in Little Italy on Thursday and The Flats Festival Of The Arts is on Saturday.

Lake Take 2

Get out to Blossom tonight to see former Beach Boy Brian Wilson as he celebrates one of the band’s most acclaimed albums, Pet Sounds. The Cleveland Orchestra and other Beach Boys will be on hand as well. The music starts at 7. Or make a trip out to Kent for an Opioid Awareness Music Festival. 8 different bands will be performing music from noon to 9 today down at Hometown Bank Plaza along with guest speakers on the Opioid Crisis. Recovery resource centers and plenty of food vendors will be there as well. 

Monday August 12

Lake Take 1

The Indians kick off a 3-game series against the Boston Red Sox tonight at Progressive Field. First pitch is at 7:10. Or catch a movie on the cheap tonight at a participating Cleveland Cinemas Theater. They'll have $5 movie tickets and discounted concession items too.

Lake Take 2

Get a little history lesson and check out Eliot Ness: The Cleveland Years. Historian, author and all around Eliot Ness expert Rebecca McFarland will talk about Eliot Ness and his time in Cleveland over at the Mentor Public Library starting at 6:30 tonight.Or hit Lunchtime Trivia at U. S. Bank Plaza from 12:30-1:30 this afternoon. Presented by Last Call Trivia, teams can range from 1 to 8 players and prizes are given out at the end of the event.

Tuesday August 13

Lake Take 1

Head out to Cain Park tonight for some outdoor live music. Olympic Brass will perform their special blend of Classical music with trombones, trumpets and tuba starting at 7 tonight. Or cheer on our Tribe as they play game 2 in a 3-game series against the Boston Red Sox tonight at Progressive Field. First pitch is at 7:10.

Lake Take 2

Head out to U. S. Bank Plaza for Dancing Under The Stars. There will be swing dance lessons beginning at 6 with dancing continuing on till 9 tonight. Oh sharpen your brain along with some alcohol by hitting Geeks Who Drink over at the Great Lakes Brewing Company. From 8 to 10 tonight they’ll be doling out the headscratchers along with plenty of beer and food to go along. Prizes are awarded to first and second place winners.

Wednesday August 14

Lake Take 1

Head out to Blossom tonight to catch Train along with the Goo Goo Dolls. Tickets are still available for tonight’s show starting at 7. Or catch a stage production of Disney’s The Lion King at Playhouse Square. The curtain drops at 7:30 inside the KeyBank State Theater.

Lake Take 2

Get out tonight and head to the Rock Hall for their Summer In The City concert series. It’s a 5-week event happening at the Rock Hall Plaza tonight at 7 with indie rocker Mike Krol taking the stage. There will be a bar, an all-access café and food trucks as well. Or go pick up some fruits and veggies grown by local vendors at the North Union Farmers Market down at U.S. Bank Plaza. It goes from 4-7 today.

Thursday August 15

Lake Take 1

The Feast Of The Assumption starts today in Little Italy. The restaurants along Mayfield and Murray Hill roads will be sampling every kind of Italian Food imaginable and it goes from noon to 11 today and all the way through Sunday. And it’s the final weekend of the Asian Lantern Festival at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. View the more than 40 all-new lantern displays along with live music happening from 6:30 to 10 tonight. 

Lake Take 2

Tonight is the final installment of Edgewater Live for the year. Expect live music from Cleveland’s The Breakfast club and also Carlos Jones & The Plus Band as well as games, drinks, food and more starting at 4:30 and running through 9 tonight. Or go see actor, comedian and ping-pong aficionado Bobby Lee down at Hilarities. He describes himself as a genetic cross between a Scallop and a Panda. Find out exactly what that means as he takes the stage tonight at 7.

Friday August 16

Lake Take 1

Get out tonight and check out the St. Mary Romanian Festival over on the west side. Enjoy all aspects of Romanian culture from Live Music to Art to plenty of food and deserts. It goes from 4:30 to 11 tonight and all weekend long over at the St. Mary Romanian Orthodox Cathedral. Or you can head to the Agora Theater for the U Up? Live Podcast. There will be advice on dating in the modern age of Apps as well as hints on decoding confusing text messages. There will be games, audience participation and more starting at 8 tonight.

Lake Take 2

Head down to Severance Hall tonight for some Classical music. The Summers At Severance series continues with The Cleveland Orchestra doing Viva L’Italia. It’s described as a jolly reflection on the sights and sounds of Italy and it starts at 7 tonight. Or check out some of the best local art in town at the 78th street studios Third Friday Art Walk. Tour the more than 60 galleries which will open their doors from 5 to 9 tonight.

Saturday August 17

Lake Take 1

The 4th annual Flats Festival of the Arts happens today down at the East Bank. From ceramics to woodwork to photography and paintings, there will be hundreds of artists displaying their stuff from 11 to 8 today and 11 to 5 tomorrow. You can also check out The Feast Of The Assumption today in Little Italy. The restaurants along Mayfield and Murray Hill roads will be sampling every kind of Italian Food imaginable and it goes from noon to 11 today and tomorrow.

Lake Take 2

Check out the Cleveland Metroparks Backyard Nature Bash today at the West Creek Reservation in Parma. It’s a family-friendly event happening from noon to 4 today with tips on gardening and other ways to improve your backyard. There will also be live music, wagon rides and more. Or if you’re up late tonight, head over to the Capitol Theater over in Gordon Square for a midnight showing of the cult classic film Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. It stars Pee Wee Herman and is part of Cleveland Cinema’s Late Night Series.
