Lake Take 1

Coming up this week in Cleveland, Smashing Pumpkins play Blossom tomorrow night, Ventriloquist Terry Fador is at MGM Northfield Park on Thursday Night, The Indians play the KC Royals on Friday and the Cleveland Garlic Festival is on Saturday.

Head out to House Of Blues tonight and go see 80’s alternative acts The Alarm along with Modern English. Doors are at 6 and the show starts at 7. Or go check out the St. Mary Romanian Festival over on the west side. Enjoy all aspects of Romanian culture from Live Music to Art to plenty of food and deserts. It goes from noon to 10 tonight.

Monday August 19

Lake Take 1

Get out to Blossom tonight for 90’s rockers Smashing Pumpkins. They’ll be joined by ex-Oasis singer Noel Gallagher and his High Flying Birds as an opener. The show starts at 7. Or if you’re looking for some comedy tonight, head over to Great Lakes Brewing Company. Bill Squire, from our sister station WMMS, will be on hand for Craft Laughs. It’s a weekly stand-up event showcasing upcoming local comedians. It all goes down starting at 8.

The Baseball Heritage Museum at League Park is hosting a Celebration Of Irish Baseball tonight. There will be a baseball clinic starting at 5:30 followed by a meet and greet with Tom Kelly, President of Baseball Ireland at 7. The event is free of charge. Or catch a movie on the cheap tonight at a participating Cleveland Cinemas Theater. They'll have $5 movie tickets and discounted concession items too.

Tuesday August 20

Lake Take 1

Head out to U. S. Bank Plaza for Dancing Under The Stars. There will be swing dance lessons beginning at 6 with dancing continuing on till 9 tonight. Or if you’re up for a road trip, head out to Kent tonight to catch legendary singer David Crosby as he makes a rare Northeast Ohio appearance. He’ll be bringing his Sky Trails tour to the Kent Stage tonight starting at 8

Lake Take 2

If you want some live music tonight, then head out to the Beachland Ballroom to catch singer songwriter Robert Earl Keen. The Country meets Americana singer has been around for three decades and he’ll take the stage tonight at 8. Or make your lunch plans tomorrow to hit Walnut Wednesday over at Perk Plaza at Chester Commons. There will be loads of food trucks on hand from 11 to 1:30 tomorrow afternoon.  

Wednesday August 21

Lake Take 1

Go see some comedy for a good cause tonight at the Laugher CAN Cure Fundraiser. Some of Cleveland’s best comics will be performing down at Forest City Brewery starting at 7. There will be a silent auction, food and drinks and it all goes to support ACS CAN’s mission to end cancer. Or head to the Capitol Theater to see a new Rush documentary called Rush: Cinema Strangiato 2019. It chronicles the bands 40th anniversary tour and features plenty of backstage footage as well as interviews with Geddy Lee and other famous fans of the band. It screens tonight at 7.

Lake Take 2

Grab some laughs tonight with Kansas City comic Chris Porter down at Hilarities. He’s been on NBC’s Last Comic Standing in addition to Comedy Central’s “This Isn’t Happening” and he’ll hit the stage at 7 tonight. Or catch a stage production of Disney’s The Lion King at Playhouse Square. The curtain drops at 7:30 inside the KeyBank State Theater.

Thursday August 22

Lake Take 1

Catch ventriloquist Terry Fator tonight down at the MGM Rocksino. He won Season 2 of America’s Got Talent over 10 years ago and has since held down a residency in Vegas combining singing and ventriloquism. He’ll be onstage tonight at 7:30. Or head over to Music Box Supper club to catch classic Alternative act The Smithereens along with Marshall Crenshaw. That show starts at 8 tonight.

Make your Saturday plans now to check out the Cleveland Garlic Festival. It’s a fundraiser for the North Union Farmer’s Markets and features live music, plenty of drink options, food competitions and loads of vendors selling endless varieties of garlic foods. It goes from noon to 8 Saturday and noon to 6 on Sunday. Or head out to Blossom as the Cleveland Orchestra performs South Pacific. That starts at 8 Saturday night.

Friday August 23

Lake Take 1

Cheer on our Tribe as they begin a 3-game series against The Kansas City Royals. First pitch is at 7:10 tonight. Or head down to Akron for the kickoff for their Rubber City Jazz & Blues Festival. The music begins at 7:30 tonight at Blu Jazz club and then tomorrow at various venues in Akron beginning at noon and going on past midnight.

Lake Take 2

Get out to Severance Hall as they screen the 1989 movie Batman while the Cleveland Orchestra performs the score alongside the movie. It starts at 8 tonight. Or if you’re a Springsteen fan and can’t wait for him to roll back through town, go see a Springsteen Tribute by the Swamps Of Jersey. They are dubbed “Ohio’s Premier Tribute To The Boss” and they take the stage tonight at 8.

Saturday August 24

It’s a fundraiser for the North Union Farmer’s Markets and features live music, plenty of drink options, food competitions and loads of vendors selling endless varieties of garlic foods. It goes from noon to 8 today and noon to 6 tomorrow. Or head out to Blossom as the Cleveland Orchestra performs South Pacific. That starts at 8 tonight.

Take the family out today for the Cleveland International Kite Festival. It’s open to all down at Edgewater Beach where you can bring your own kite and fly to your heart’s content from 11 to 5 today. Or get out to Cleveland Pickle Fest. It’s free down at North Coast Harbor today and there will be all kinds of pickle-themed foods, live music, pickle-eating contests and we’re not lying…Pickle Beer. Yep, you heard it here first. It goes from noon to 5.
