Lake Take 1

Coming up this week in Cleveland, The Who play Blossom on Tuesday night, The Book Of Mormon continues down at Playhouse Square, The Indians play the Minnesota Twins on Friday and Walkabout Tremont is also on Friday.

Lake Take 2

Go get in on the action today as The Browns play their first game of the season against the Tennessee Titans. The game starts at 1 inside First Energy Stadium with the usual shenanigans in the Muni lot ahead of the game. Or go catch folk rock band The Avett Brothers as they roll into town tonight at the Wolstein Center. That show starts at 7:30.

Monday September 9

If you’re looking for some comedy tonight, head over to Great Lakes Brewing Company. Bill Squire, from our sister station WMMS, will be on hand for Craft Laughs. It’s a weekly stand-up event showcasing upcoming local comedians. It all goes down starting at 8. Or catch a movie on the cheap tonight at a participating Cleveland Cinemas Theater. They'll have $5 movie tickets and discounted concession items too.

Lake Take 2

If you like miniature trains, get out to the Holden Arboretum for Woodland Express. It features a model railroad with trains travelling through tunnels, bridges and animal habitats crafted with natural materials. It’s open daily from 9-5 and goes through this Sunday. Or head to the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame to see their Woodstock At 50 exhibit. Check out memorabilia from that landmark music festival today from 10 to 5:30. If today doesn’t work for you, you have till the end of the year to attend.

Tuesday September 10

Lake Take 1

Head out to Blossom for what could be classic rockers The Who’s final show in the Northeast Ohio area. The “Moving On” tour starts tonight at 7:30. Oh sharpen your brain along with some alcohol consumption by hitting Geeks Who Drink over at the Great Lakes Brewing Company. From 8 to 10 tonight they’ll be doling out the headscratchers along with plenty of beer and food to go along. Prizes are awarded to first and second place winners.

Go see the acclaimed musical The Book Of Mormon over at The Connor Palace Theater. The outrageous musical comedy has been called by the New York Times “The best musical of this century” and the curtain drops at 7:30 tonight. Or check out acclaimed indie-folk band The Head And The Heart down at Jacobs Pavillion at Nautica. They’ll hit the stage at 7:30.

Wednesday September 11

Lake Take 1

Head over to the Cleveland Museum Of Art for their new exhibit called Medieval Monsters: Terrors, Aliens, Wonders. The exhibit focuses on the complex role that monsters played in Medieval society. It goes from 10 to 9 today. Or make your Friday plans now to catch our Cleveland Indians go up against the Minnesota Twins down at Progressive Field. First pitch is at 7:10.

Lake Take 2

Grab some lunch today out at Toby Plaza for their Uptown Out To Lunch Series. Dine at one of the Uptown eateries while you enjoy live music from 11:30 this morning to 1:30. Or go see veteran alt-rock singer Bob Mould as he plays a solo electric show at the Music Box Supper Club beginning at 8 tonight.

Thursday September 12

If you’re a fan of Jazz, then get over to the Cleveland Cinematheque for a screening of the film Blue Note Records: Beyond The Notes. It tells the story of the classic label with rare footage of jazz greats Miles Davis, John Coltrane and more. It screens at 8:45 tonight. If you’re a fan of wine, then head out to the Crocker Park Wine Festival this evening. There will be more than 150 wine vendors and producers on hand in addition to live music with proceeds benefitting the University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. It goes from 4-10 tonight and 2-10 tomorrow. Or you can cheer on our Tribe as they take on the Minnesota Twins tonight at Progressive Field. First pitch is at 7:10. It’s also Sugardale dollar dog night so come hungry.

Get some culture in tonight at Walkabout Tremont. The theme this time around is “Walkabout Like A Pirate”…arrgh. You can check out some of the best Tremont restaurants, featured art openings, live music and more tonight from 5-10. Or get culture of a different kind down at Playhouse Square as The Cleveland Opera Theater presents La Boheme. The popular opera, set in Paris, takes place at the Mimi Ohio Theater tonight starting at 7.

Saturday September 14

Lake Take 1

A new stage production starts tonight called Into The Breeches. Presented by the Cleveland Playhouse, it’s a comedy centering around a group of women, with little stage experience, who are determined to put on an all-female version of Shakespeare’s Henry the 4th and 5th. It starts tonight at 7:30 inside the Allen Theater. Or you can go see 80’s New Wave singer Adam Ant down at the Masonic Cleveland Auditorium tonight. The show starts at 8.

Head on over to the Cleveland Museum Of Art today for their Chalk Festival. Join professional artists as they use the Fine Arts Garden walkways as a canvas for producing art with chalk. It happens today and tomorrow from 11 to 5. Also the Crocker Park Wine Festival continues today from 2-10 with more than 150 wine vendors and producers on hand in addition to live music. Proceeds benefit the University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital.
