Sunday December 15

Lake Take 1

Coming up this week in Cleveland, The Cavs play Charlotte at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Wednesday, The Fixx play the Kent Stage on Thursday, Comic Dave Attell hits Hilarities for a series of shows starting on Friday and the 78th Street Studios Third Friday Art Walk is also this week.

Lake Take 2

Go see the all-male A Cappella act Straight, No Chaser, down at Playhouse Square. They are calling this their “Open Bar Tour” which will no doubt include many holiday sing-a-longs for you to take in. There’s two shows today: one at 3 and the other at 7:30 inside the Keybank State Theater. Or go see self-deprecating comic Patrick Keane down at Hilarities. He’s done the talk show circuit and claims the key to his comedy is to “try not to be funny, and it somehow works”. He goes onstage tonight at 7.

Monday December 16

Lake Take 1

If you’re looking for some comedy tonight, head over to Great Lakes Brewing Company. Bill Squire, from our sister station WMMS, will be on hand for Craft Laughs. It’s a weekly stand-up event showcasing upcoming local comedians and it all goes down starting at 8. Or get out to Winchester Music Tavern tonight for some live music. Oregon Space Trail Of Jazz takes place tonight starting at 7. Expect lots of dreamy free-form indie rock and jazz fusion. They might even throw in a few Holiday tunes as well. 

Lake Take 2

Get out and see some live Holiday music over at Nighttown on the East Side. Bill Rudman’s Christmas Cabaret blends standards from Gershwin and Irving Berlin with a healthy smattering of Holiday tunes to spice things up. The show starts at 7 tonight. Or get some trivia in over at the Happy Dog’s Monday Night Trivia. They’ll dole out the headscratchers starting at 8 tonight along with a huge selection of hot dogs and craft beer.

Tuesday December 17

Lake Take 1

Head out to The Happy Dog on Detroit Avenue as they host Classical Revolution Cleveland tonight. It’s a group of various musicians around Cleveland getting together to bring classical music into a bar setting. It’s free for all-ages and the music gets started at 8. Or head over to the Winchester Music Tavern in Lakewood for their Open Turntable Tuesdays & Open Mic Night. Bring your own vinyl for them to spin from 6-9 and if you are musically inclined, participate in their Open Mic night happening after 9.

Lake Take 2

Get out tonight and hear some live Holiday music over at the Fairview Park Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library. It’s a Holiday Concert with the Corni Ones, a Cleveland area Horn club. They’ll be performing all kinds of festive tunes beginning at 7 tonight. Or get out today and do some Ice Skating. The Cleveland Monsters present an open rink down at Crocker Park over in Union Square next to Nordstrom Rack. Don’t have skates? They have rentals on hand and the hours go from 4 -9 pm through January 5th. 

Wednesday December 18

Lake Take 1

Cheer on the Cavs tonight as they go up against the Charlotte Hornets down at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Tipoff is at 7. Or go see a live stage production of the classic film A Christmas Story put on by the Cleveland Play House. This family-friendly show will feature all the things you love about the movie and it starts at 7:30 inside the Allen Theater.

Lake Take 2

Get and see some comedy tonight over at Hilarities. Comic Ryan Niemiller was born with a disability in both arms and shares comic anecdotes through the perspective of the handicapped. He’ll be onstage tonight at 7. Or REALLY get in the Holiday spirit over at the Capitol Theater in Gordon Square as they screen the quintessential Seasonal classic, It’s A Wonderful Life. There will be cocktails served at 6 with the movie starting at 7.

Thursday December 19

Lake Take 1

Go see a stage production of A Christmas Carol put on by The Great Lakes Theater. Charles Dickens’ classic tale of one man’s ultimate redemption takes place tonight at 7:30 inside the Mimi Ohio Theater at Playhouse Square. Or head to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo for their Wild Winter Lights Festival. There will be thousands of lights, an extremely tall teddy bear, a visit from santa and more. It goes from 5:30 - 9:30.

Lake Take 2

If you feel like a road trip to Kent, then go see the 80’s New Wave act The Fixx as they play the Kent Stage tonight. Expect to hear their hits “One Things Leads To Another”, “Red Skies” and more tonight starting at 8. Or get in the Holiday spirit down at the Great Lakes Brewing Company. They will be screening the Will Farrell flick ELF tonight at 7. Each ticket includes a complimentary pint along with snacks from their bar.

Friday December 20

Lake Take 1

Go see Long Island comic Dave Attell down at Hilarities. This guy’s credentials are way too long to list here but he’s been on every talk show imaginable and has had plenty of his own shows in various incarnations over the past 2 decades. The adult-themed comic plays two shows tonight starting at 7 with more scheduled through the weekend. Or go support the Cavs tonight down at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse as they take on the Memphis Grizzlies. Tipoff is at 7. There’s also a Whammer Bobblehead giveaway presented by Discount Drug Mart.

Go check out some of the best local art in town at the 78th street studios Third Friday Art Walk. Tour the more than 60 galleries which will open their doors from 5 to 9 tonight. Or head to Playhouse Square for a live podcast of Rebel Force Radio, called Skywalker Rises In Ohio. The long-running Star Wars themed Podcast will feature insights of the new Star Wars Film, Episode 9 – The Rise Of Skywalker. It starts at 7:30 tonight inside Kennedy’s Cabaret.

Saturday December 21

Lake Take 1

Catch a live stage production of Mean Girls down at Playhouse Square. It’s a musical adaptation based on the movie of the same name. There’s two shows today, one at 1:30 and the other at 7:30 tonight down at the Connor Palace Theater. Or if you’re up late tonight, catch a midnight showing of the classic holiday horror film Black Christmas down at the Capitol Theater over in Gordon Square.

Go indulge in some Holiday themed live music as the Ohio City Singers take over the House Of Blues tonight. Expect a rowdy and upbeat vibe with lots of original holiday music performed in all kinds of unconventional styles tonight starting at 6:30. Or go see a stage production of A Christmas Carol put on by The Great Lakes Theater.
