On Saturday night (December 14), The Voidz played a secret show at HVW8 Art + Design Gallery in Los Angeles, and aside from treating friends, family and fans to their new single "Did My Best," Julian Casablancas' side project also gave quite the entertaining rendition of Freddie Mercury and David Bowie's "Under Pressure" with Danielle Haim.
The karaoke-style performance proved that the Strokes frontman and Haim vocalist/guitarist were a little rusty on the iconic duet. Danielle tried to save her Queen singer's parts by looking up the lyrics on her phone, while Julian opted to hum the melody instead of sing actual lyrics most of the time.
Reggie Watts was also onstage, and Julian tried to pawn his mic off on him a few times. The result was some pretty intense metal growling and overall ridiculousness. Someone in the crowd filmed the whole, silly moment. Watch footage below.
The Raconteurs recently brought Julian onstage during a show in Mexico City to perform The Strokes' This Is It classic, "The Modern Age," where he did remember the lyrics (thankfully since it was his own song). The Voidz released their sophomore album Virtue last year and appear to have their third in the works.
