Coming up this week in Cleveland, The Rock Hall is hosting an MLK Day Celebration tomorrow, The Cavs play the New York Knicks also tomorrow down at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, the hit musical Jersey Boys is at Playhouse Square on Tuesday and Cleveland Beer Fest is down at the Huntington Convention Center starting Friday.

If you’re a Stanley Kubrick fan, then head out to the Cleveland Cinematheque for a screening of his 1975 film Barry Lyndon. It’s set in 18th Century England and is sure to be a feast for the eyes. It shows at 6:30 tonight. Or you can catch local comic Nelsin Davis over at the Improv Comedy Club & Restaurant. He bills himself as a storyteller and he’ll be hitting the stage tonight at 7:30.

Monday January 20

Go catch a movie on the cheap tonight at a participating Cleveland Cinemas Theater. They'll have $5 movie tickets and discounted concession items too. Or make your weekend plans now to hit Cleveland Beer Fest down at the Huntington Convention Center. There will be hundreds of different craft beers to sample in addition to live music, food and more. It goes from 8 to 11:30 Friday & Saturday night with early admission starting at 7.

Celebrate MLK day today by heading to the Rock Hall. They will be celebrating all day with family activities, live music and multiple film screenings including one with links between Rock & Roll and the Civil Rights Movement. It goes from 10:30 this morning to 5:30 tonight. Or you can cheer on the Cavs as they take on the New York Knicks down at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Tipoff is at 5 today.

Get out to Playhouse Square tonight to see the Hit Broadway musical Jersey Boys down at the Connor Palace Theater. Go behind the music and inside the story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons tonight starting at 7:30.Or head out to The Happy Dog on Detroit Avenue as they host Classical Revolution Cleveland tonight. It’s a group of various musicians around Cleveland getting together to bring classical music into a bar setting. It’s free for all-ages and the music gets started at 8.

Make your weekend plans now to catch comic Paula Poundstone over at Playhouse Square. Her quick-witted unscripted stand-up act will no doubt bode for an unpredictable and hilarious evening. She’s on at 8 Friday night at the Mimi Ohio Theater. Or you can cheer on the Cavs as they go up against the Chicago Bulls at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Tipoff is at 8 Saturday night.

Wednesday January 22

The Monsters hit the ice tonight at 7 down at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse against Rochester. They are running a Hockey Hoppy Hour special from Labatt Blue with lower level tickets starting at $12 and your first drink on the house. Or if you want to chill out a bit, head over to Academy Tavern On Larchmere over on the east side for their Piano Night with George Foley. It happens every Wednesday night from 6:30 – 9:30 and reservations are recommended.

Get a little film education over at The Music Box Supper Club. They are hosting their Film Café tonight where experts share their insight on what makes movies come to life. Tonight’s topic is “Shooting on Film Vs. Digital”. Which is better? Find out tonight starting at 7. Or go see some stand-up comedy over at Hilarities with Brad Wenzel. The dry comic from Detroit has been on Conan O’Brian multiple times and has a comedy album out on Jack White’s Third Man Label. He’ll be on stage tonight starting at 7.

If you were a fan of the TV show The Office, then get down to Playhouse Square tonight for The Office! A Musical Parody. It features scenes and musical numbers from all 9 seasons of the popular show. It starts at 8 tonight inside the Hanna Theater. Or if you’re a fan of 70’s folk singer Jim Croce, then go see his son A.J. over at the Music Box Supper Club. The show is called Croce Plays Croce where A.J. will pay tribute and do songs from his late father as well as his own songs. It all goes down at 7:30 tonight.

Cheer on our Cavs tonight as they go up against the Washington Wizards down at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Tipoff is at 7. Or go enjoy an evening of chamber music mixed with other styles down at Snap House Studios with Trumpeter Theresa May. The name of the show tonight is Classic, New, Borrowed & Blue and the music begins tonight at 7.
