Lake Take 1

Coming up this week in Cleveland, The Cavs take on New Orleans on Tuesday night, The stage production of Clue continues its run down at Playhouse Square, The Monsters play Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Friday and the 2020 Great Big Home & Garden Show returns to the IX Center also on Friday.

Go see actor and comedian Joe DeRosa down at Hilarities. He’s known for his brutally honest content which is captured in his latest comedy album called “You Will Die”. He rates his comedy R for “real” and he’ll be onstage tonight at 7. Or if you’ve got a wedding in the works or know someone who does, head over to the IX Center for Today’s Bride Cleveland Wedding Show. There will loads of vendors of all things wedding related from 10 to 5 today.

Monday January 27

Lake Take 1

Get some trivia in over at the Happy Dog’s Monday Night Trivia. They’ll dole out the headscratchers starting at 8 tonight along with a huge variety of hot dogs and craft beer. Or get out and go see the Skatch Anderssen Big Band at Brothers Lounge. The music and dancing starts tonight at 7.

Lake Take 2

If you’ve ever been interested in Flamenco Dancing, then tonight’s your chance to make it happen. The Wilhelm Dance Studio over in Rocky River is offering an 8-week Flamenco Dance class for beginners. It starts tonight at 6:30. Or head over to the Rock Hall for their new Play It Loud exhibit. All sorts of instruments that helped shape Rock & Roll from 1939 to today will be on display from 10 to 5:30 today. The exhibit goes all the way through November.

Tuesday January 28

Lake Take 1

Go support our Cleveland Cavaliers tonight down at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. They play the New Orleans Pelicans and there’s also a 5-panel hat giveaway powered by FirstEnergy. Tipoff is at 7:30. Or go see American Idol Winner Phillip Phillips down at the Music Box Supper Club. He had a huge hit with the song “Home” a few years back and he’ll be onstage tonight at 7:30.

If you’re looking to get out tonight, go check out the Southern Tier Brewing Company’s Winter Beer Dinner. It mixes beer education with a 5-course dinner and it goes from 7-9 tonight. Or make your weekend plans to hit the 2020 Great Big Home & Garden Show at the IX Center. 600 exhibits will be on display centering on how to renew, refresh and restore your home. It all gets started at 10am this Friday.

Wednesday January 29

Lake Take 1

Get out to Playhouse Square tonight for a stage production of Clue. It’s a murder-mystery comedy based on the popular board game and 1985 movie of the same name. Showtime is at 7:30 inside the Allen Theater. Or get some laughs in over at the Improv Comedy Club with Rob Allen. The raunchy comic is the recipient of the Redd Foxx Cutting Edge Award and he’ll be onstage tonight at 7:30. 

Lake Take 2

Head out to the Music Box Supper Club for Cleveland Stories Dinner Parties. Tonight’s guest is author Kit Whipple. He’ll be discussing various families from Cleveland who helps build and shape the city we know and love today. The storytelling begins promptly at 7. Or head over to the Capitol Theater in Gordon Square for a one-time only screening of the classic 1954 Hitchcock film Rear Window. There’s a cocktail happy hour at 6 and they’ll show the film at 7.

Thursday January 30

Lake Take 1

Head out to The Agora tonight to see writer and comedian Marc Maron. He’s a 30-year veteran of stage, radio and TV. He also has a hit Podcast with 6 million downloads a month called WTF, where he interviews such personalities as Keith Richards, Robin Williams, Ben Stiller and more. He’ll be onstage at 8:15 tonight. Or you can cheer on the Cavs as they face the Toronto Raptors tonight at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Tipoff is at 7.

Lake Take 2

Go take in some classical music tonight over at Severance Hall. The Cleveland Orchestra will perform Shadows, Seas & Sorcerers. It includes a rendition of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice which was made famous by Mickey Mouse in Fantasia. The music starts at 7:30. Or go see comic Bryan Callen. You might have seen in him in recurring roles on ABC’s Schooled and also The Goldbergs. He’ll be onstage tonight at 7 with shows through the weekend.

Friday January 31

Lake Take 1

Get out today and hit the 2020 Great Big Home & Garden Show at the IX Center. 600 exhibits will be on display centering on how to renew, refresh and restore your home. It all gets started at 10 this morning and goes all the way through February 9th. Or go see The Monsters hit the ice tonight down at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. They play the Utica Comets and the first 10,000 fans will receive a WMMS “Buzzard” retro T-Shirt. The puck drops at 7.

Lake Take 2

Catch something unusual tonight down at Severance Hall. The Cleveland Pops Orchestra will be joined by the Fly Dance Company. It’s an all-male theatrical hip-hop dance company and the music will veer from Swing to Broadway to Film Scores and beyond. The performance happens at 8. Or go see Flanagan’s Wake down at Playhouse Square. The interactive Irish production starts tonight at 8 inside the Kennedy’s Cabaret Theater.

Saturday February 1

Lake Take 1

Go cheer on our Cavs tonight down at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. They play the Golden State Warriors and they’re offering a Family Fun Pack with 4 discounted tickets and meals. Tipoff is at 8. Or if you’re a fan of the classic Coen Brothers film Fargo, they are showing that down at the Cedar Lee Theater tonight at 9:30 and then again at midnight.

The 2020 Great Big Home & Garden Show continues down at the IX Center. 600 exhibits will be on display centering on how to renew, refresh and restore your home. It goes from 10-9 today and runs all the way through February 9th. Or if you just can’t wait for AC/DC to come back through town, head down to House Of Blues For Thunderstruck: The Ultimate AC/DC Tribute. Hear all the band’s best known songs and some deeper cuts tonight starting at 8.
